This is a project organised by the Krakow-based developer, the Buma Group, in cooperation with the Student Government of the Krakow University of Technology. His Magnificence the Rector of the Krakow University of Technology, Professor Kazimierz Furtak, Ph.D., Eng. is its honorary patron.
As part of the venture, students of the Krakow University of Technology invited to the project created fine art work depicting architectural structures of Krakow which have been used as venues of commercial business in the past and are still associated with commerce today. "The aim of our venture is to demonstrate that commercial business has been a part of Krakow's history for centuries. As early as several hundred years ago, Krakow was a strong city and the main commercial centre of the country. The number of historic buildings in Krakow is due not just to its long history, but also the multiple functions that it fulfilled as the national capital. The works created will be presented to the public, and thus contribute to promoting Krakow for business" - this is how representatives of the Buma Group comment the idea of the project. The competition winners will be announced at the official inauguration of the exhibition, which will be held in the new ONYX office building on February 5, 2009. During this preview, the authors of the best works will receive cash prizes (1st place - PLN 3,000; 2nd place - PLN 2,000; 3rd place - PLN 1,000). The exhibition at the ONYX office building will last until the end of February, and the entire venture until the end of 2009. Various events connected with the exhibition are planned during this time, including periodic shows of the works in office buildings constructed by the Buma Group.
