The Buma Group has become one of the founders of the Polish Green Building Council (PLGBC). The organization propagates sustainable development in the building industry, and deals with the issues of green building certification in Poland.
The main goal of cooperation between the house builder and PLGBC is to promote an energy efficient and environmentally responsible development.
The cooperation of the Buma Group with PLGBC assumes propagation of the idea of ecological building through broadly defined educational activities (publications, conferences, symposia) that enable exchange of information and dissemination of access to knowledge and technology. The Buma Group provides and arranges a new office for the Council and co-participates in furnishing the office with ecological materials. The office has applied for one of the first LEED CI certificates in Poland.
PLGBC wants to exert a positive influence on the building sector in Poland through the implementation of the principles of triple responsibilities: environmental, social, and economic. Sustainable development assumes the improvement of life quality in the community through, among other things, the reduction of harmful impact of building on the environment.
Presently PLGBC operates in Buma's seat in Buma Square office building. In mid 2010 the main office of the Council will be moved to the first building of Quattro Business Park complex, developed by the Buma Group.
The Buma Group is a team of house-building companies, which have been cooperating with each other since 1991. So far the Buma Group has implemented office projects of the leasable area of more than 55,000 m2 (including Buma Square Business Park and Rondo Business Park in Kraków). Presently, the Buma Group is involved in the development of another office building project in Kraków, called Quattro Business Park. In addition, the Group has also constructed more than 1,700 flats and 270 single-family homes.
Polish Green Building Council is a non-government organization, whose statutory objectives include the promotion of ecological building in Poland, in compliance with the principles of sustainable development. PLGBC has the status of a forming association, affiliated to the World Green Buildihg Council.
