Polish
patented
modular
houses
raise
interest
abroad.
Everything
seems
to indicate
that
the
Kraków-based
Buma
System
S.A.
has
the
potential
of becoming
a leader
in the
production
of ready-made
houses.
The
Milokum
system,
authored
and
patented
by the
Buma,
raises
interest
also
beyond
Poland.
The
erection
of the
first
multi-family
residential
building
is about
to be
completed
right
now.
The
building
will
be set
up in
the
London
street
called
Barling
Court.
The
British
company,
the
Hyde
Housing
Association,
which
administers
about
30,000
flats,
is the
project
investor.
The
Company’s
representatives,
as well
as journalists
and
BBC
filmmakers,
took
an active
interest
in the
process
of assembly
of volumetric
modules
(fully
furnished
with
installations,
fixtures
and
furniture,
as well
as glazed
tiles
and
carpet
floor
finish)
that
was
taking
place
in the
Buma’s
factory
in Kraków.
They
also
visited
an identical
multi-family
building
which
was
constructed
in the
housing
estate
of Mała
Góra
in Kraków.
"I
don’t
have
any
reservations
as far
as the
facility’s
quality
is concerned,"
said
Mr.
Mike
Kirk,
the
Project
Manager
at the
Hyde
Housing
Association.
"We
were
very
favourably
impressed
by staircases,
being
much
wider
than
those
designed
for
the
London
buildings.
I think
that
we will
also
introduce
that
solution
in our
designs."
Mr.
Mike
Kirk
does
not
exclude
the
expansion
of the
co-operation
with
the
Buma
S.A.
Group.
Following
the
British
government’s
decision,
only
in London
itself,
6,000
flats
for
key
workers
(administration
officers,
physicians,
nurses,
firefighters
and
policemen)
will
be built
in the
near
future
(the
current
level
of prices
makes
it impossible
for
average-income
persons
to buy
their
own
flats
or houses).
Instead,
volumetric
module
buildings
can
be assembled
in a
couple
of days,
and,
if the
need
be,
relocated
to another
place.
"The
construction
of the
first
house
will
start
on 19
July.
The
erection
of modules
on previously-made
foundations
will
take
one
week,"
says
Mr.
Jacek
Michalski,
President
of the
Buma
System
S.A.
