A lot has been said about the rapid economic growth of Kraków in the last few years, but it is worth remembering that business has been an inherent part of our city's history for ages. As early as several hundred years ago, Krakow was a strong city and the main commercial centre of the country. This is where the idea to organise the "Expositio Buma - Entrepreneurship in Krakow Architecture" came from. "With our venture, we want to show Krakow as a city associated with entrepreneurship no less than with the generally known cultural heritage" - Piotr Michalski, representing the Buma Group, said during the preview combined with the official opening of the Onyx Building commissioned in the autumn of 2008.

The honorary patrons of the Expositio BUMA exhibition were: the Mayor of Krakow - Professor Jacek Majchrowski, Ph.D., the Rector of the Krakow University of Technology - Professor Kazimierz Furtak, Ph.D., Eng., and the Małopolska District Architects' Chamber. The jury was composed of Zenon Remi, Architect, as chairman, Professor Andrzej Wyżykowski, Chief Architect of the City of Krakow, Professor Leszek Mikulski, Deputy Rector for Student Affairs of the Krakow University of Technology, Borys Czarakcziew, Chairman of the Małopolska District Architects' Chamber, Jarosław Knap, editor (Małopolski Przegląd Nieruchomości) and Adam Urbanik, editor (Kraków Branch, Polish State Television). The exhibition was organised at the turn of 2009 and 2009 thanks to the involvement of scientists and students from the Krakow University of Technology. Its purpose was to promote Krakow's entrepreneurship-related architecture in business circles. 20 works depicting historical and current buildings in Krakow associated with entrepreneurship selected from the 35 chosen by the organiser were completed within 5 weeks by young architects. The works were produced using various techniques, including pastel, oil, and pencil. The most popular properties depicted by the students were: the Biprostal Building, Sukiennice (Cloth Hall) and Kamienica Margrabska.

The jury honoured three works of all. Their authors received cash prizes. The first place was taken by Konrad Stafiński, year III of Architecture and Urban Planning, Krakow University of Technology, the second by Anna Wójcik of the second year of that course and the third by Marcin Kitala, of the first year of the same course.

"I believe that 'Expositio BUMA' will contribute to promoting Krakow, also as a place of robust business growth" - said Piotr Michalski. "We plan to promote this exhibition in business circles and elsewhere".
After the Onyx building, the works will also be shown at other locations in Krakow associated with business, including the Rondo Business Park and BUMA Square buildings.
