A press conference took place on 17 June on the construction site of Quattro Business Park in Kraków, combined with a safety equipment demonstration, to launch the third stage of a campaign that has for past three years been conducted by the State Labour Inspection Authority for "Occupational Safety in the Construction Industry." The conference objective was to sum up the campaign course to date and to draw conclusions, which might allow increasing further occupational safety levels.
Mr. Tadeusz Fic, Regional Labour Inspector, said during the conference that in the case of Kraków-based construction sites one can speak of a tendency that raises optimism. Statistics show an improvement in relation to previous years. "Not a single worker died on a construction site in Kraków this year, both as a result of a high fall, or in a deep trench."
The campaign partners and co-organizers of the conference were: the Buma Group, owner of the Quattro Business Park office complex where personal fall arrest safety system for workers was presented, and Alsina Polska, whose representative demonstrated the operation of that system to journalists. Each of the meeting participants could test himself the system effectiveness.
